Etisalat Egypt to launch own-brand smartphones
Etisalat Egypt introduces own-brand Android Snapdragon handset

Etisalat Egypt has announced its first ever own-brand smartphone.
The handset, which runs the Android operating system on Qualcomm's S1 Snapdragon processor, is intended to offer a high powered smartphone at an affordable price and with the backing of the Etisalat brand.

The phone, which includes a special call and data tariff for users, is the first in an intended line of Etisalat-brand phones for Egypt.
Etisalat Egypt launched this smartphone as part of its initiative to meet the need of the Egyptian market for a device that combines high power and affordable cost," said Engineer Wael Abu Al Ila, head of marketing at Etisalat Egypt. "We also issued a special tariff for the users of this mobile to meet their needs for data and voice services. This is the first step toward providing smartphones to all members of the society."
The phone is a 3G Android handset, with Snapdragon processor for better performance an battery life. It features a 3.5 inch touchscreen, with front and back cameras, radio, Wi-Fi and GPS. It also comes pre-loaded with applications including Microsoft Office, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the Wasalni road map app.
Jihad Srage, senior vice president and president of Middle East, Africa and Central Asia operations at Qualcomm, said: "We are excited that Etisalat has chosen our Snapdragon S1 processor to power their first smartphone release. Etisalat's new smartphone is a powerful device for today's value driven consumer. Qualcomm is very proud to have its Snapdragon S1 processor be part of this innovative product offering."
